Discussion:
Using numbers and a legend rather than generic pushpins

When I download an excel file with 60+ individual companies into MapPoint,
the generic pushpin is used to mark the location of the business. Rather than
a pushpin, I would like each company to be numbered, and if possible have a
legend on the side of map relating the number to the respective company. How
can I do that to a mass number of pushpins rather than manually changing
every 60+ pushpin?

I think you are referring to the desktop application "MapPoint"? and
not the "MapPoint Web Service". You posted this to the webservice
newsgroup, so I'm also sending my reply to the more appropriate
microsoft.public.mappoint newsgroup.

To have the legend referenced like you say, would require one pushpin
set per company. I've seen users have 100+ simultaneous pushpinsets, so
60+ would be fine.
You probably also need some custom pushpin symbols?

There are a number of such pushpin images available (eg. John Meyer has
some at support-pc.com ). John also has a freeware utility that aids
with the import of the pushpins (imports lots at once).

As for the individual pushpin sets: You are going to have to do it
manually (takes a long), or use some custom programming.
It would be a fairly simple thing to do - read a list from Excel or a
text file, and create a pushpin set and pushpin for each row that is read.

Yes we could be hired to do it for you! :-)
