Discussion:
Flat map versus globe map
(too old to reply)

I've seen reference to the ability in other MapPoint products to be able to
configure whether views beyond 9200 km are viewed as a flat map or a global
map, but I can't find anything in the WebService API.
I'd like to keep the projection static (orthographic) in all views, if
possible. I don't know if the WebService returns maps in different
projections at different zoom levels? If it does, is there any options to
control this?

Thank you!

Hi,

I believe the only way to get the globular view is to zoom out extremely far
and thus your point becomes a speck on the map. Other then that you could
try switching to terrain style but I believe that you're pretty much stuck to
the 'flat' maps unless you're using Virtual Earth.

Regards,
